How We Calculate the Dubrovnik Gastro Score
The Dubrovnik Gastro Score is a Bayesian weighted rating designed to balance rating quality with the amount of review evidence available.
We combine ratings from the review platforms available for each restaurant and weight them by review volume to calculate a raw rating.
Restaurants with fewer reviews are weighted more cautiously, and their score is pulled toward the current average rating across the Dubrovnik Gastro restaurant database. As a restaurant accumulates more reviews, its own rating carries progressively more weight — though even at several thousand reviews, a restaurant's own rating never carries 100% of the weight; this is a smoothing parameter, not a trust threshold.
This prevents restaurants with a very small number of perfect reviews from disproportionately ranking above restaurants with a large, established review history.
The Dubrovnik Gastro Score is never affected by whether a restaurant has a paid listing on our platform. Premium and Featured tiers can purchase visibility, content support, and marketing tools — never a higher score. We do not manually adjust scores, and tier status plays no role in the calculation.
